The Valley School

Location: Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru

A new insert to The Valley School, the girl’s hostel block, stands tall as a sustainable model, focusing strongly on the human connect in the realm of nature. The structure syncs into the existing landscape, connecting the building to the isolating quality of the earth.

The design deftly accommodates the magnificent trees on site, making the entire feel of the place organic and natural. The approach to the main area slowly opens up a plethora of spaces, which are aesthetically planned to suit the smooth spatial transitions of the inmates.

With sunlight washing the pastoral walls and ceilings with a spectacular play of light and shadows, the spaces are further held together with a strong design language through the use of entrance halls and jali screens, which merge the interior and exteriors, quite literally, giving the building an old-world charm.
